The Japanese Agency for Nuclear and Industrial Safety recommended that the country's government raise the level of radiation hazard at the nuclear power plant "Fukushima-1" to the seventh level.
It is the highest estimation on the International Nuclear Disaster Scale. The recommendation was given after the last measurement of radiation levels at the nuclear power plant, which showed disappointing results.
Currently the nuclear power plant disaster at "Fukushima-1" is assigned a level five radiation hazard.
Previously, the seventh level had only been reached by the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe.
